Senyard Falls and Cascade

SenyardFalls

Ozark National Forest, Arkansas - May 3, 2011

Knowing that this area north of the Mulberry River, just off of Highway 23, had received a couple inches of rain the day before, I decided to make a trip to this canyon containing both Murray and Senyard Falls.  Unfortunately, on this particular day, the sky was perfectly clear.  I had to arrive at the trailhead before sunrise and hike/bushwhack into the area below the waterfalls while both remained in shadow.  Upon arriving at the bottom of the canyon, I felt rushed because in just a short time the sun would rise above the surrounding hollow and make the area impossible to photograph due to the high contrast of the direct sunlight.  Even though Murray Falls is considered the dominant of the two, probably because it is slightly taller, I was immediately drawn to the way this creek cascaded away from Senyard Falls toward the large moss covered boulder and focused most of my short period of time on this composition.
