Monte Ne Area, Arkansas - February 12, 2011
As the roads began to clear after the record snowfall of 2011 in northwest Arkansas, I decided to explore a few places around Beaver Lake near my home for a possible wintery composition. After visiting a few locations, I arrived at the boat ramp at Monte Ne just as the clouds began to glow magenta from the setting sun. Noticing the fractured ice along the surface of the water, I quickly composed this scene using a 20mm wide angle lens to create emphasis on the foreground. I was drawn to the angular shapes and diagonals created by the ice while ice and water reflected the spectrum of blues and magentas from the dynamic sunset.
