Sunrise from Flatside Pinnacle
Flatside Wilderness Area, Ouachita National Forest, Arkansas
The view from the Flatside Pinnacle is one of the best scenic vistas in Arkansas. After the short climb to the top, it is possible to view the wilderness both to the east and west. This particular morning, I planned to photograph the moon setting over Forked Mountain at first light toward the west. After editing the images made during my time here, I felt this scene to the east of the layered mountains was a better representation of this wilderness area. A longer telephoto zoom was used to magnify the layering effect of the mountains and haze.
