My initial idea was to photograph this scene with the sun in the sky at the top of the composition. Upon arriving, I quickly realized that during the fall, the sun would rise further to the south just out of the scene. I decided to set up my tripod and camera anyway in case something else happened. As the sun rose, a warm light filtered its way through the thin fog and along the surface of the water in the distance. I composed the scene with the reflection of the bright, clear morning sky illuminating the surface of the water around the stones in the foreground.
