McKittrick Canyon Maples
Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Texas
The Chihuahuan desert is generally dominated by shrubs and cacti due to the area's heat and lack of moisture. But within the walls of McKittrick Canyon lies a rare hidden oasis nourished by the waters of Mckittrick Creek. For this image, I composed a group of maples in peak color and boulders along the edge of this dry section of the creek.
